Company rosters; regimental histories; association correspondence and financial papers; reunion programs, invitations, badges, and speeches; a scrapbook; photograph album of trip to Shiloh Battlefield in 1903; and a copy of the ACME SONGS FOR THE GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC. The scrapbook (1895-1938) includes newsclippings, photographs, memorials, Decoration Day postcards, and a booklet on the Indiana monuments at Shiloh National Military Park. Also included is a resolution supporting the U.S. position of neutrality during World War II and the association's opposition to Communism.

The 44th Indiana Infantry was organized in the 10th Congressional District and mustered in Oct. 1861. It participated in battles at Shiloh, Murfreesboro, Chicamauga, and Mission Ridge. It was mustered out in Sept. 1865. The 44th Indiana Regiment Association was comprised of the surviving members of the regiment and held annual reunions until at least 1938.
